How can we understand and know a God we’ve never seen? How can we as finite beings understand an infinite and eternal God? Can God have a real impact in our lives right now? If so, how?
These questions have driven our series over the past few weeks entitled, “Pictures of God.” I’ve absolutely loved going through Scripture, reading how God often describes Himself. He takes His indescribable, unfathomable qualities and somehow manages to put them into terms we can understand so that we can get a glimpse, a touch, a hint of understanding of His power, His mercy, His grace, and His love. Within my own life these past two months, God has become more relevant, real and practical. So far, we’ve discussed God as light of the world, living water, bread of life, the Word (our language), the Good Shepherd, and the Great High Priest.
Next week, will be our last in the series, taking a closer look at the love relationship between God and man, and how Christ is described as our bridegroom.
The fact that we are coming to the end of our series got me thinking….
how else does Scripture describe God?

God works in amazing ways. One question that was asked to me the other night was if God was sitting on a porch and someone mentioned your name, what would God say? I said God would laugh because he would say very lighthearted and easy going, loves to make himself laugh and is a kid at heart. With all of the tests and trials of life, remember to Laugh, stay young at heart and spend time with the Lord today. He loves you whether you are the prodigal running from Him or the prodigal running back to Him. Remember, he is the Prodigal Father who is constantly in love with us.
As for a verse one for me would be PSALM 103:8
The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love. –
God is constantly reminding me of his patience. I start to get angry at others and then I am reminded of the fact that God is so so slow to anger with me. How many times he could have given up on me, but every morning his mercy is anew.
Praise be to God for his indescribable, abounding love. AMEN
